Useful Thai Phrases

Thai is spoken by 95% of Thailand’s Population. When traveling in Thailand, learning a few Thai phrases will be an added advantage. You will be alternately praised and appreciated by the Thais; many of them who barely speak English or no English at all. One of the best reasons for you to learn Thai is that it helps you gain insight to its rich and beautiful culture. In addition, it will help you to easily get around Thailand easier whether you are aboard a nice comfortable rented car like those at car hire dublin or simply a taxi cab in search of the lost ruins.

Whenever you speak Thai, if you are male, you should end the sentence with “Krab” and “Kha” if you are a female. Thai Language has five tones, which are low, middle, high, rising, and falling. Vowel length is important when speaking Thai, because if you speak the word longer, it will change the meaning of the word. The best way to learn a language is through listening to native speakers.

How are you. If you think taking care of yourself is selfish, change your mind. If you don t, you re simply ducking your responsibilities.

How come Tiger Woods is referred to as (Thai/American) and LaToiye is referred as(Thai/Black). Does Tiger get a pass on the fact that he a half Black, because of his athletic talent and economic stature? Or is it because of a special request made by each, stating their preference or racial identity?
Wow,she is awesome.

To all the falangs here - if you get a lousy treatment in Thailand, look at the mirror first before you judge.

No doubt money makes the world go round, regardless of whether you re buying stuff from some bazaar or trying to get laid in Soi Cowboy. But Asians and this case Thais, do draw a line somewhere.

Asian culture is more subtle, less aggressive, confrontational and a softer approach works. If you come here with the stupid mentality thinking you re superior to everyone, then you only have yourself to blame. To get genuine hospitality, first you have to be hospitable. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Do not take Asia as your backyard toilet.

In the case of David s complain, it s probably because the Thais relate to similar culture i.e. subtlety and respect. I see a lot of falangs here thinking they re the king of everything - talking loudly without respect for others, acting like they own the place, and being too upfront. Stop this superiority complex already. It doesn t work anymore.

When the Thais (and other Asians) know that there is no point in trying to get you guys to behave, then they just resort to fleecing you out of your money - at least they get paid for having to put up with your nonsense falang attitude.

Dizzy is obviously a poor sod, the kind of down-and-out falang (probably back-packing at some down-and-out slums in Bangkok as well), but hoping to get lucky in Thailand just because he things Asian girls fall stupidly for falangs - but got bitten because unfortunately Thai girls are smarter as they can spot a dumb falang just trying to get a cheap thrill.

Dizzy - by your statements, you have insulted Asians in general and I sincerely hope you will not meet a group of guys who hates falangs like you anywhere in Asia. Because if you do, the days you d spend in hell is a picnic compared with what they will do to you. And the size of your pecker is inconsequential. Grow up, respect people and understand the cultures before you judge.

Keep your wits about you and treat people with courtesy and Thailand will reward you handsomely. Majestic beauty is abound everywhere, the food is superb, the beaches are incredible & the women are to-die-for. Was ther for Songkran 2008 & I love the place.

I ve been working at the Thai language for eight months and I still found many good new hints in your phrases. I am too old for the best way to learn, a Thai girlfriend, but I still try, nonetheless.

It has to do with a few things. Eastern Asian men prefer lighter skinned Asian women, because it is a sign of beauty. Having lighter skin indicates that you are of a higher social class because your descendants were not peasants working in the rice fields, getting sun every day and thus darker skin. Also, Eastern Asian men, a bit more so Korean and Japanese than Chinese, are an easy play for their money. They ll pay much more than other falangs because they are naive and also have the money to spend, esp. Japanese. As far as Koreans and Chinese, let them get ripped off. Eastern Asians have such a prejudice against other Asians, that they ve earned a well-deserved reputation for being rude assholes all over the tourist hubs which they can now afford to visit in droves. They also have the smallest penises in the world, which may be another reason that the most attractive women choose to serve them. (easy work)

Thailand is a vast country. Huge. With only a tiny part dedicated to pleasing the amorous Farang..Something strange though, some of the massage parlours/brothels in BKK only cater for Japanise/Chinese, and only the really pretty ones work there. Must be something to do with the money in their pockets
