“More Than A Woman”
Virtually every man that has spent a considerable amount of time in Pattaya (whether for business or pleasure) has had some kind of encounter, close or otherwise, with the world-famous Ladyboys. Many guys get caught out because in some cases they are incredibly wellpresented. Back in the U.K., most transvestites or transsexuals tend to look like WinstonChurchill with a wig on. In 1983 on my 3rd holiday to Thailand, my friend and I spent two weeks in Pattaya. One afternoon, we were drinking in Soi Diamond and decided to enter the very promising sounding ‘Caligula’ bar (no longer there) sat down and ordered a couple of ice-cold Singha beers. There were a number of very attractive girls in the place and we were pleased with our choice of venue. The new set of dancers climbed onto the stage and there was one that caught my eye instantly, long curly hair, great face, slender body, perfect legs and a really sexy dancer. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She noticed that and kept smiling back. My friend was equally impressed. After 3 or 4 songs, the next group of girls took to the stage and to my delight, she came straight over and sat next to me. She was absolutely stunning, big brown eyes and such a sexy mouth, full lips glistening with lip gloss. At the time, I had a very attractive girlfriend back in the U.K., but this exotic creature made her seem plain in comparison. We hit it off from the start and within minutes were kissing passionately, much to my friend’s discomfort. Her hand moved along my leg and onto the bulge that she had created. “I am finishing work now, come home with me.” She said. I was ready, but unsure. Surely these girls generally prefer to go back to your hotel, I thought. “It’s Ok, I don’t want your money, I like you.” She said. I was naïve enough then to buy into that, I was only 25, not horrible to look at and pretty fit. I agreed without hesitation. Then came the seismic revelation. “I have to tell you something first.” She said. The penny dropped. “Oh, God, please don’t say that.” I told her. “I must, I don’t want to have a problem later.” She replied. I would be less than honest if I didn’t tell you that despite what ‘she’ had just told me, I was still conflicted. There is a difference between what you are told and what you can see and it is not easy to come down from such a level of desire to just walking away. But I just couldn’t face it. “I’m sorry.” I said “I can’t.” After she left, my friend was all smiles. “You wait till we get back.” He told me, with a sinister warning. He was as good as his word. When we returned, we went to our local pub the following day (a Saturday) there were a good number of our friends there, including a girl that I was seriously attracted to. My friend and I were nicely brown, looking good after our 4 week tropical holiday. “Did you have a good time?” Asked Nadine, the girl that I was besotted with. “Yes, it was excellent.” I replied. My friend, Rod, with unfortunately perfect timing, waited for a quiet moment and then announced, “Mark, why don’t you tell them about the time you were kissing that bloke and he had his hand on your nuts.” The whole table (of about 14 people) went silent, everyone looking at me. I challenge anyone to get out of that situation with their dignity and reputation intact! “Umm, it’s not how it sounds.” I said “You had to be there, I mean if you had seen this person...” I stopped, realizing I was only making it worse. It is impossible to explain to anyone that hasn’t been here how such a situation could arise for a heterosexual male, which I most definitely am. Over the years, I have met quite a number of Westerners who have had sexual experiences with ladyboys and virtually all of them claim to have been really drunk and by the time they found out (back at their hotel) they thought ‘What the hell’ and just went through with it. I sometimes doubt that excuse, but understand the situation, having experienced it first hand. Over the years I have had some other encounters with these creatures of the night, but more about that the next time…
