How Will Pattaya Affect You ?

Pattaya is like nowhere else in the world.. not just in my humble opinion but a common belief among many of the visitors and expats who reside here.

Having travelled fairly extensively over the years and enjoyed each and every destination along the way, nothing could have prepared one for what was in store on my first visit to Pattaya.

If you’re someone who has never ventured away from the homeland and your views and opinions on life are somewhat narrow-minded for the want of a better way of putting it, then I’m not so sure if Pattaya would be the ideal first choice for starting your globe-trotting experiences.

If on the other hand you embrace different cultures, customs and lifestyles that are far removed from what would be regarded as the “norm” in many parts of the western world, coupled with the warmth of tht Thai people — which is a unique quality in their society — then you are in for an experience that will have been unmatched by any other travel venture that you may have undertaken in the past.

Pattaya is a city resort and as such has so much to offer. If you plan to spend a lot of time here catching the rays, then you will be spoilt for choice with so many top-class hotels with their state-of-the-art swimming pools in every shape and form, offering all sorts of amenities to make your holiday experience extra special.

If that is not enough to satisfy your sun-worshipping needs, there are numerous beaches within the Pattaya area, from the often busy Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, to those in Naklua and along the coast which tend to be more on the quieter side, you will find the staff in the hotel more than helpful when you seek their advice as to which is a good option for you.

For your daytime activities avail of the opportunity to visit some of the parks and attractions in Pattaya. Try a little elephant trekking, make a trip to the tiger zoo where you will have the opportunity to have a photo shoot with the friendly monkeys, feed the baby tiger cubs and even the small alligators — or maybe not! Apart from that you could visit the Nong Nooch Gardens and the superb Underwater World on the Sukhumvit Road. Just a few kilometres outside Pattaya is the Alankarn show which depicts some of Thailand’s history in an impressive theatrical display featuring elephants, fantastic costumes and stunning pyro-technic effects! A must see if you can make the time.

Pattaya after dark . . . where do you start? Maybe before you start seeking out the very diverse nightlife on offer you should treat yourself to a dining delight in any of the countless restaurants and eateries, serving everything from authentic Thai cuisine to your favourite western dishes. You can choose from restaurants serving Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Middle-East dishes, to steak houses and numerous seafood houses where the emphasis is on fresh food . . . allowing you to select the fish of your choice from the big fish tanks . . . bon appetit!

Later you can catch one of the world famous shows at Tiffany or Alcazar and enjoy some of the many of the venues featuring live music. No visit to Pattaya would be complete without at least one — if not many — trips down Walking Street with its electric atmosphere and lots to entertain you from start to finish.

If you’re travelling on your own, and particularly if your male, then there’s a good chance you’ll develop a fondness for Soi 6, 7, 8 and of course Walking Street, where the beauty of the Thai girls will undoubtedly overwhelm you both inside and outside the Go-Go bars. Here you could easily feel you’re in a dream world and, as the story goes, could end up falling in love several times during your stay!!

So, I wonder, following your first visit . . . “how will Pattaya affect you?”

You can try Angeles City Philippines. It s similar to Pattaya, but not as touristy and developed but with much better clubs and girls.
There s no beach, but the airport which is 10 minutes away can bring you to boracay in an hour. The best beach destination in the WORLD.

My first trip to Pattaya was 10 years ago .. I ve spent alot of time there since .. I ve seen my share of this world and can honestly say there is no other place like it .. Anything is possible in Pattaya if you have $$$ .. So bring lots of it .. Other parts of Thailand remain inexpensive,Pattaya isn t .. Simply because there is too much temptation.Your first visit to Pattaya will have you feeling like a fat kid in a Smartie factory..On my initial trip there I had brought $2000 Cdn for a months trip, I spent triple that :) My habits may be considered excessive by some some but one just never knows what is possible in that atmosphere. If you ve never dreamt of such a place it can get overwhelming. Each year I continue to fly half way around the world to get there so there must be something to it.I m spending New Years Eve this year in Pattaya.Hope to see some of you there...!!!
