Renting Bikes in Pattaya
Kyle Allen Actually I have rented all kinds of bikes in Pattaya. Depending on how many details you want, I can give a lot... Pattaya is a craphole of a place if you're not looking for sex. But ideal place for renting a bike from Bangkok. Within good riding distance on super highway or country road you can be at some nice secluded beaches, waterfalls, country towns or mountains. I recommend it highly. This will be a long posting but worth it if you are serious about renting a bike. I usually rented on Soi 8, almost right after you make the left onto Beach Road. All rental places are on the street, many using Beer Bars as addresses. Soi 8 has mostly older bikes but an occasional 2001 R-1 ( I rented), a nice navy Honda 929 Fireblade (rented it) and 1999 and 2001 black and navy, respectively, CBR 600 Fs (sport touring). They also have kinda odd bikes for the area like a Trans Alp and Baja. Plus a nice 400 Steed in mint condition (rented it)...Plus was they only took my missionary ID card instead of passport, were real nice guys and again cheap on my money. 600 bikes are RARE to buy or rent in Thailand. 400 and 900 most popular. This is all Pattaya Klang leading up to Walking Street (technically Pattaya Tai or South Pattaya). Since you're on business and have the loot, head up the street towards Walking Street. But don't forget Soi 8. I can't remember his name, but one guy there specializes in guided tours. Don't know the price, but he is maybe 40ish and rides a big Honda Shadow if I remember. He can take you all over Chonburi, Rayong or even Trat provinces. I don't know of anyone else doing this in Pattaya. He speaks English well and 1 of his bikes is the 600 F in navy. Nice looking and I saw a guy go for a tour on it. Short story is the best bikes are at Soi 2 there on Beach Road, South Pattaya. All Thai-Muslims. Ask for Sugree Wado or Gree. Some of the dealers are women, some men. They are all like a family but they will each try to sell you on THEIR bikes. Each owns and manages a few bikes. Mobile Number 01-699-8684 or 01-576-8370 I rented a very nice CBR 600 F4i (fuel injected), red and I think 2001 or 02. They have 4-5 blue R-1, an older red/white R-1, a powerful monster Honda RC51, a few Biaggi (think) race colored and exhausted Hondas, and some lovely 03-04 Honda CBR 600s with the under seat exhausts. Many older 900s and chopper/cruisers from Honda. They even have a 01-02 CBR 600F tourer/sport in red. I talked with some tourists who rented those CBR for 1500-1700/day. The CBR F4i was at 900, R-1s usually 1000. I speak Thai very well and am friendly. They knocked the CBR down to 600 for me, R1 was 800. They were going to give me the newest CBR in black for 1200. So you can work with them. Remember, always walk away politely from Thai people during business, they will bring you back and get a deal. I don't know if bar girls will help as translators. They might help you get took. Also if you plan on taking the bike out of Pattaya (and you should, unlike 99% of the folks who rent there) you will have 2 probs:
I worked around this by living in the same province, etc. They will require your passport. Word of wisdom, be very damn careful with all bikes.
Last notes: There are many of good Honda Super 400s around, usually for 400-500 baht/day. Also one place near Royal Shopping Mall on Beach Road there are one 1000cc Honda CB and a newer 1300 CB, several 1100cc Blackbirds in ok shape and V-Max's depending on your tastes. If you ride a Kawa 6R, head to Soi 2. Tell them the white boy from Bang Saen sent you. Any more questions please visit Bangkok Rider's Club Submitted by : Bangkok Riders Club 28-Jun-05
